AAUP Constituency Award Nominations

The AAUP Constituency Award honors staff at member presses who have demonstrated active leadership and service to the association and the university press community. All staff at member presses are eligible to receive the award, but preference is given to non press directors. The Constituency Award is also open to retired staff from AAUP member presses. The award was established in 1991 and is presented each year at the Association's annual meeting.

2012 Constituency Award Nomination Procedure

Employees at any AAUP member press can nominate a recipient. The nomination must then be seconded by at least one other person at a member press. Nominations should be done in the form of a letter to the Board of Directors and should outline the nominee's qualifications for the award. An individual who seconds a nomination should also draft a letter and include the nominees' qualifications. Letters should address how the individual's contributions have benefited the members of AAUP.

Qualifications can include:

  • service on AAUP committees, task forces and the Board of Directors;
  • contributions to AAUP professional development programs (regional and annual meetings and workshops);
  • work with other organizations on AAUP's behalf.

2012 Award Nomination letters are due to the Central Office by February 16, 2012. Nominations carry over for one year. Individuals first nominated but not selected in 2011 will be considered for the 2012 award.

Nominations are reviewed by a subcommittee of the AAUP Board of Directors, and the final selection approved by the entire Board. The 2012 recipient will be announced at the AAUP Annual Meeting in Chicago this June.
