Michael Peluse has been appointed Managing Director of Cambridge University Press's Americas division. Peluse formerly led Cambridge's Iberia office.

Nicole Mitchell, currently Director of University of Georgia Press, has been named the new Director of University of Washington Press. Mitchell assumes her new position in January 2012.
David Nicholls, previously Director of Book Publications at the Modern Language Association, has been appointed as Acquisitions Editor for Georgetown University Press's Georgetown Languages division as of late October.

Dave Hamrick has been appointed Director of University of Texas Press. Hamrick has been at the press for ten years and Associate Director since 2008, until he stepped in as Acting Director following Joanna Hitchcock's retirement.
Kate Nichols, longtime book designer, has joined the university press community as Production Coordinator-Designer at Temple University Press.
July 2011
Karen Hill, Associate Director and Digital Manager at the University of Michigan Press, will step up as Interim Director on September 1, following Director Phil Pochoda's retirement.
Kate O'Brien, previously Marketing Manager at Fordham University Press, has been promoted to Marketing Director.
Katie Sweeney, past intern and Publishing Assistant at Fordham, has also been promoted to Assistant Marketing Manager.

Curtis Clark will join the University of Alabama Press as Director on June 1, 2011. He returns to UA Press, where he previously served as Assistant Director and Editor-in-Chief, after 9 years as director of the University of South Carolina Press.
As of June 1, Mark Simpson-Vos will become Editorial Director at the University of North Carolina Press, after more than a decade of acquiring books at the Press.
Assistant Director for Sales and Marketing Jonathan Haupt will become Interim Director of the University of South Carolina Press beginning June 1, 2011.

Niko Pfund has been appointed President of OUP USA, where he has served as Acting President since December 2010. Niko will also continue in his role as Academic Publisher of OUP USA, a position he has held since rejoining OUP in 2000.
Greg Britton joins Johns Hopkins University Press as Editor-in-Chief on May 15, 2011. Greg has previously served as the director of Getty Publications and the Minnesota Historical Society Press.

At the University of Michigan Press, Tom Dwyer, previously Senior Acquisitions Editor, has been named Editor-in-Chief; Karen Hill, previously Assistant Director/Digital Manager, has been promoted to Associate Director/Digital Manager; and Mike Kehoe, longtime Sales & Marketing Director, is now Assistant Director.

Fordham University Press has two new employees on permanent staff: Wil Cerbone as Editorial Associate and Assistant to the Director and Tom Lay as Assistant Editor to the Editorial Director.
The University of Alabama Press has promoted Rebecca Minder to the position of Publicist and Latasha Watters to Marketing Coordinator.
The University of Illinois Press welcomed Daniel Nasset, previously Assistant Acquisitions Editor, as an Acquisitions Editor in the fields of film studies, communication, and anthropology.

Stepping up from his previous role as Assistant Director and Sales & Marketing Director, Jim McCoy became Director of the University of Iowa Press on January 18, 2011.
The University of Wisconsin Press announced on January 12, 2011 that Pamela Wilson has been promoted to Assistant Director for Journals & Business and that Anna McKenna has been hired as Subsidiary Rights Manager. In addition, Jim Hahn has transitioned to the role of Office Manager.
Alison Mudditt joined the University of California Press on January 10, 2011 as Director, bringing with her over 22 years of experience in academic and scholarly publishing, including recent recognition as one of the "Top 50 Women in Publishing" by Book Business magazine.
The University of Illinois Press was pleased to introduce new Design Manager Matthew Smith to the university press community. Matt previously worked as Senior Designer and Academic Copywriter for InterVarsity Press.
Diana Pesek joined the Pennsylvania State University Press as its new Journals Manager on January 3, 2011. An enthusiastic advocate for new technology and electronic strategies, Ms. Pesek brings more than 20 years of publishing experience to the position.
Recent Retirements
Beki Simon, Director of Journals and Digital Publishing at the University of California Press, will retire during the summer of 2012.
Kate Torrey, Director of the University of North Carolina Press for 20 years, has announced her retirement as of summer 2012. Over her 36 years in the university press community, Torrey has served on the AAUP Board--including as President--and on several AAUP committees; she has also worked with Women in Scholarly Publishing and the NEH.
Pat Soden, Director of University of Washington Press for 15 years, retired in January 2012.
Marilyn Schwartz, Managing Editor and Composition Manager at University of California Press, retired at the end of 2011 after 34 years in the university press community.
Mary Selden Evans, Executive Editor at Syracuse University Press, retired at the end of November 2011. Evans worked at the press since 1996, when she began as an editorial assistant and quickly ascended to executive. While at the press, Evans established the successful Arab American Writing Series.
Barbara Werden, Design & Production Manager at Texas Tech University Press, retired at the end of September 2011.
Bill Bossier, Associate Director and CFO of Louisiana State University Press, retired in August 2011 after 26 years at the Press.
Phil Pochoda, Director of the University of Michigan Press for 10 years, retired September 1, 2011. Phil continues as a half-time consultant to MPublishing, and as a fellow at the University of Michigan Humanities Center.
Gail Grella, Senior Acquisitions Editor at Georgetown University Press, retired at the end of April 2011.
Joanna Hitchcock, Director of the University of Texas Press since 1992, formerly at Princeton University Press, and past President of AAUP, retired at the end of February 2011. Lynne Withey, who has guided University of California Press through some of the most transformative years in its history, and also served as AAUP President from 2005-06, retired from her position as Director at the end of 2010. Lynne was interviewed on the eve of her retirement for the AAUP Exchange.
David McGonagle retired from the Catholic University of America Press in early December, 2010, after 25 years as Director.
Tom Lavoie, Assistant Director/Director of Marketing and Sales at the University of Arkansas Press, and formerly with Syracuse University Press and Dufour Editions, retired at the end of October 2010 to join his new grandson and family in Portland, OR.
Holly Carver, a presence at the University of Iowa Press for 25 years and Director for the last 11, announced her retirement in July 2010.
Glen W. Lindeman retired as Washington State University Press Editor-in-Chief on June 30, 2010. He had been with the press for 22 years, serving as Project Editor and then Editor-in-Chief.
