February 2017

  • Kathleen Keane will be retiring as Director of Johns Hopkins University Press on April 14; she joined the Press in 2002
  • The University of Alabama Press has appointed Clint Kimberling to the position of Director of Sales and Marketing after spending more than ten years at the University Press of Mississippi
  • Mary Laur has been promoted to Senior Editor for Reference and Writing Guides at the University of Chicago Press
  • The Univeristy of Chicago Press welcomes Jane Macdonald, formerly of MIT Press, as Editor for Economics, Business, and Finance
  • Tim Mennel has been named the Executive Editor for American History, Urban Studies, and Regional titles at the University of Chicago Press
  • Karen MerikangasDarling of the University of Chicago Press has been promoted to Executive Editor for Science Studies
  • As of February 3, 2017, Judy Metro has retired as the Editor in Chief of the National Gallery of Art
  • Priya Nelson, of the University of Chicago Press, has been named Editor for Anthropology and History
  • Meagan Szekely has joined the Naval Institute Press as Marketing Manager. Previously, she worked in acquisitions at Johns Hopkins University Press.

  • Jeff Colosino has left the National Academies Press.
  • Peter J. Dougherty, Director of Princeton University Press, will be retiring on December 31, 2017, after twenty-five years at the press.
  • Robert Erwin, Director of the University of Pennsylvania Press in the 1970s, has passed away. Our thoughts are with his friends and family.
  • Robin Noonan, formally a Marketing Manager, has been promoted to Sales Manager at the Naval Institute Press.
  • Trevor Perri, previously at the University of Chicago Press, has joined Northwestern University Press as an Acquisitions Editor.
  • Katherine Purple is advancing from her previous role as Managing Editor to the new role of Editorial, Design, and Production Strategic Manager at Purdue University Press.
  • Although the University of Cincinnati Press is not yet a member of the Association, we are pleased to share the news that Elizabeth Scarpelli, currently of Baker & Taylor, and previously with Rutgers and Cambridge UPs, has been hired as the director of this new UP.
  • Bryan Shaffer of Purdue University Press has been promoted from Sales and Marketing Manager to the new role of Sales and Marketing Strategic Manager.

November 2016

  • Stephanie Adams, previously Marketing Director at Left Coast Press, Inc., is the new Marketing Manager at Stanford University Press
  • Senior Editor Walter Biggins will be promoted to Executive Editor of the University of Georgia Press effective December 1
  • The University of Southern Illinois Press has a new director of publishing operations, Jake Harris
  • Ryan Furtkamp, who recently worked as Associate Marketing Manager at UC Press, is the new Publicist Stanford University Press
  • Linnie Greene, who previously worked at Green Apple Books in San Francisco, will be the new Marketing/Sales Assistant at Stanford University Press
  • Jonathan Haupt’s last day with the University of South Carolina Press is December 1, after which he starts as the founding executive director of the new Pat Conroy Literary Center
  • Pam McClanahan has left the Minnesota Historical Society Press; John Leventhal is the new interim director
  • Marielle Poss is the new Editing, Design, and Production at Columbia University Press, replacing Cathy Felgar
  • Lynda Schuh has retired from the University of Illinois Press
  • Kendra Schynert (a recent MFA graduate from San Francisco State who also handled marketing for DunDraCon) will be the new Marketing/Publicity Assistant at Stanford University Press
  • Kate Templar (formerly the Manager of Treadwell Books in the U.K.) is the new Sales and Exhibits Manager at Stanford University Press

October 2016

  • Joe Brinley has retired from the Wilson Center; Shannon Granville and Cherie Worth have also left the press.
  • As of September 12, Jeremy Clift has stepped down as the publisher of IMF Publications; Jeffrey Haydenhas succeeded him in the role
  • Kevin Hollenbeck, Director of Publications at the W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research, has left the press
  • After 24 years, Anita Samen is retiring from the University of Chicago Press, having spent 18 as Managing Editor. Jenni Fry, Anita’s assistant managing editor, will be filling the position. 

September 2016

  • Martyn Beeny has joined Cornell University Press as the new Marking Director with more than a decade of experience, most recently at the University of Nebraska Press
  • Diane Cotts, Assistant Director at the University of Oklahoma Press, retired August 31, 2016
  • Joe D'Onofrio, has been named the new Director of the Chicago Distribution Center starting September 12
  • Ryan Mulligan has joined Temple University Press as Acquisitions Editor, with a focus on sociology, criminology, and sport studies
  • The University of West Indies Press has hired Dr. Joseph B. Powell as their new General Manager, effective August 1
  • Conrad Roberts has been appointed the Interim Director at the University Press of Kansas, effective August 31
  • Andrew Tallon, Director of Marquette University Press, has announced his plans to retire in August 2017.

August 2016

  • Linda Manning has joined the University of Alabama Press as Director, replacing interim director Daniel Waterman. Linda was previously the Director of Northern Illinois University Press.

  • Courtney Andree has joined Yale University Press as publicist, focusing on art and architecture
  • Simon Bell leaves the University of Manchester Press on July 31
  • Cara Carlson and Amy Farranto have been appointed Interim Co-directors of Northern Illinois University Press, after the departure of Director Linda Manning, who left to head the University of Alabama Press
  • Craig Gill has been named the new Director of the University Press of Mississippi
  • Kel McGowan has been appointed executive editor for clinical health and medicine at Rutgers University Press. Kel was previosuly with Wolters Kluwer (Lippincott), where she was the Acquisitions Editor for a number of medical specialties, including Neurology, Psychiatry, Infectious Disease, Immunology, and Public Health.
  • Eric L. Miller is the new Marketing Manager at the University of Nevada Press
  • Kathi Dailey Morgan is retiring after 34 years with the University of Georgia Press
  • The University of Michigan Press/Michigan Publishing has hired Meredith Norwich to the position of Senior Editor for Political Science. Norwich comes to Michigan after holding positions in acquisitions, marketing, and sales at Ashgate Publishing.
  • Simon Ross, formerly Cambridge University Press's deputy managing director for academic publishing, has been named the new CEO of Manchester University Press, replacing Frances Pinter after her planned three years of service.
  • Will Underwood has stepped down as Kent State University Press director and has taken on acquisitions for the Press. KSU Assistant Dean of Libraries
  • Kenneth Burhanna is serving as Interim Director of the University Press and will lead a national search for a new director.
  • Elizabeth Crowley Webber is the new Senior Editorial Assistant at the National Academies Press, after working at the University of Georgia Press

June 2016

  • Linda Bathgate joins the University Press of Florida on July 1, 2016 as Editor in Chief and Deputy Director. Bathgate comes to UPF from Routledge, a division of Taylor & Francis, where she is Publisher in Communication.
  • Seth Ditchik is the new Editorial Director at Yale University Press, effective June 6. Previously, Ditchik held the dual role of Group Publisher for social sciences and Executive Editor for economics and finance at Princeton University Press
  • Sara Henderson White has retired from the University Press of Kansas on June 1; she is succeeded by Andrea Laws, new Assistant to the Director
  • Jenny Jackson has been hired as a Marketing & Outreach Specialist at Purdue University Press
  • John Langston has retired as Art Director of the University Press of Mississippi, after 32 years. He plans to travel the world, read what he wants, and search for the perfect mimosa.
  • Linda Manning, Director of Northern Illinois University Press, has been appointed Director of the University of Alabama Press starting Aug. 1. She replaces interim director Daniel Waterman.
  • Charles “Chuck” Myers has joined the University of Chicago Press as Senior Editor for Political Science and Law, bringing to the position over 20 years of experience at the University of Michigan Press, Princeton University Press, and the University Press of Kansas
  • John Tryneski is retiring from the Acquisitions department at the University of Chicago Press after four decades

May 2016

  • Ashley Runyon is the new Trade and Regional Acquisitions Editor at Indiana University Press. She joins the Press after spending the past eight years at the University Press of Kentucky.
  • Jennika Baines has joined Indiana University Press as Acquisitions Editor in global and international studies, Russian and Eastern European studies, and the Spatial Humanities series. Previously, she was an acquisitions editor at Syracuse University Press.
  • Janice Frisch was recently promoted internally to Acquisitions Editor in music, film, media, folklore, and gender and sexuality studies at Indiana University Press
  • Shannon Brown, a graduate of the Indiana University School of Journalism, has joined Indiana University Press as the new Scholarly Marketing and Publicity Manager
  • Aaron Javsicas is the newest Editor-in-Chief at Temple University Press, stepping up to the role after managing political science, urban studies, and criminology lists as Senior Acquisitions Editor
  • Maureen Mills has retired from Georgetown University Press after dedicating herself to ‘UPdom’ for the past 11+ years. Director Richard Brown says, “One aspect of Maureen's tenure that has made a deep impression on me is her unwavering commitment to the good of the press, as well as her good cheer.”
  • Gianna Mosser has been named Editor-in-Chief at Northwestern University Press. Gianna has been with the press in various roles since 2009, most recently as Acquisitions Editor.
  • Rachel Rosolina, has joined Indiana University Press as Project Manager/Editor
  • Leyla Salamova, new Senior Artist and Book Designer at Indiana University Press, previously worked at the IU Jacobs School of Music’s marketing and publicity office
  • Sherondra Thedford has also been hired at Indiana University Press, where she will work as Journals Production Manager

April 2016

  • Emily Andrew has joined Cornell University Press as a Senior Acquisitions Editor. Emily previously worked at the University of British Columbia Press for 18 years, and at the University of Toronto prior to that.
  • Brigette Brown joins the University of Illinois Press as an Assistant Acquisitions Editor. She has previously worked at Temple University Press and the American Association for Cancer Research in Philadelphia.
  • The University of Illinois Press also gains Kristen Dean-Grossman, who joins the journals department as Publications Editor, bringing extensive experience as a production coordinator and proofreader.
  • James Engelhardt joins the University of Illinois Press as Acquisitions Editor. James has five years of acquisitions experience at the University Press of Alaska, and most recently, served as Managing Editor of Prairie Schooner at the University of Nebraska Press
  • Clare Hitchens has been promoted to Sales and Marketing Coordinator at Wilfrid Laurier University Press, where she served as Publicist since 2002.
  • Wilfrid Laurier University Press has gained a new Senior Editor in Siobhan McMenemy, who brings 17 years of experience in acquisitions to the position, most recently as an editor at University of Toronto Press.
  • Lisa Quinn has been named the Director of Wilfrid Laurier University Press. She succeeds Brian Henderson, who retired in December.
  • Leila Salisbury has been named the Director of the University Press of Kentucky. This appointment represents a homecoming, as Leila worked at Kentucky from 1994–2008 before leaving to serve as Director of the University Press of Mississippi.
  • Lynda Schuh, Sales and Digital Content Manager at the University of Illinois Press, is retiring after fifteen years of dedicated service in various roles.
  • Congratulations to Alison Shay on her new position as Acquisitions Editor at Syracuse University Press, with a focus on geography, Middle Eastern studies, Native American studies, and regional trade. Alison was previously Assistant Editor at University of North Carolina Press.
  • Cecilia Sorochin joins the University of Virginia Press as a Senior Designer/Assistant Production Manager. She has worked as a book designer since 2007.

March 2016

  • Christopher Ahn is joining SUNY Press as an Acquisitions Editor, with a primary focus on Asian and religious studies.
  • Michael Duckworth is stepping down as Director of the University of Hawai’i Press. Longtime Chief Financial Officer Joel Cosseboom will serve as Acting Director.

  • Sylvia Mendoza has been appointed Design and Production Manager at the University of Virginia Press. Sylvia comes from the University of Arizona Press, where she served as Editorial, Design, and Production Manager. A past AAUP board member, Sylvia has also worked at the University of Chicago Press.
  • Jon Miller has been named Director of the University of Akron Press after serving as the Transitional Director since September. He is also the Assistant Chair of the English Department, Vice Chair of the Faculty Senate, and both a past and future UAP author.
  • Ryan Pingel has been hired as the new Business and Operations Manager for the University of Wisconsin Press. Previously, he was the Outreach Program Manager and Business Coach/Mentor in the College of Business and Economics Outreach Services at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
  • Antonia Pop will be taking over the management of the Journals Division at the University of Toronto Press, in the role of Senior Manager, Journals. She succeeds Anne Marie Corrigan.

  • Raina Plivka, former Acquisitions Editor at Indiana University Press, has joined the University of California Press as the Acquisitions Editor for Music, Cinema and Media Studies
  • John "JD" Williams, formally of University of Alabama Press, has joined Northwestern University Press as the Director of Marketing and Sales, a new position within the Press

  • Tony Sanfilippo has been named Director of the Ohio State University Press, effective December 8. Sanfilippo was most recently Marketing Director and Assistant Director at Penn State University Press.
  • Alexa Colella has joined the University of Illinois Press as the visiting Marketing Manager for scholarly journals. Colella comes to the press from Purdue University's Center for Food and Agricultural Business where she served as their marketing coordinator.
  • Samara Rafert has joined Ohio University Press and Swallow Press as the new Promotions and Exhibits Manager. Rafert previously worked at MBI Publishing in St. Paul andTaunton Press in Connecticut.

October 2014

  • Jeremy Grainger has returned to university press publishing as Sales and Marketing Director at Rutgers University Press. Grainger was most recently at Aperture.
  • Gary Dunham has been named Director of Indiana University Press. Dunham served since 2010 as Director of Publications for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association; he was previously director of SUNY Press and the University of Nebraska Press.
  • Rosemary Brandt has joined the University of Arizona Press as Publicist. Brandt comes to the press from Arizona Public Media, where she worked for several years in on-air promotions.
  • Derek Krissoff has been named Director of West Virginia University Press. Krissoff was most recently Editor in Chief at the University of Nebraska Press.

September 2014

  • Thomas LeBien has joined Harvard University Press as Executive Editor-at-Large. LeBien was most recently Vice President and Senior Editor at Simon & Schuster. LeBien has also held editorial positions at Princeton University Press and at Oxford University Press.
  • Gary Dunham is the new Director of Indiana University Press. Dunham was previously Director of Publications for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, where he co-developed and co-directed a book publishing program; he has also served as Director of SUNY Press and of University of Nebraska Press.
  • Ellen Chodosh has been named the new Director of NYU Press. Chodosh is a former Vice President and Publisher, Trade Division of Oxford University Press.

August 2014

  • J. Kent Calder joined the University of Oklahoma Press as Acquisitions Editor for the regional Southwest with special emphasis on Texas-related topics.
  • In October, Adam C. Kane will also join the University of Oklahoma Press, as Acquisitions Editor for American history with emphasis on military history and the history of the American West.

July 2014

  • Kim Hogeland has moved to University Press of Kansas as Acquisitions Editor for Western and regional history, environmental studies, and Native American studies. Hogeland was previously an editor at University of California Press.
  • Jerry Bilek will be joining the Minnesota Historical Society Press in August as Sales Manager. Bilek is a 22-year veteran bookseller and owner of Monkey See, Monkey Read in Northfield, MN.

June 2014

  • Richard Morrison has been hired as the new Editorial Director of Fordham University Press. Morrison was most recently Editorial Director at the University of Minnesota Press.
  • Glenn Saltzman has joined Georgetown University Press as Editorial, Design, and Production Manager. Just prior to joining the Georgetown, Saltzman led the Production and Editorial team at ASTD for more than six years.
  • Clara Totten has returned to Georgetown University Press as Digital Editor for Georgetown Languages. Totten interned in the languages department and afterward continued to freelance for the press on multiple Arabic-related projects.
  • Courtney Burkholder has rejoined Texas Tech University Press as Director. Burkholder was Sales and Marketing Manager at the press from 2004-2006; most recently, she was Director of Publishing for a K-12 publisher in Oregon.
  • Jennifer Crewe has been appointed President and Director of Columbia University Press. Crewe has served as interim director for the past nine months and has worked at the press for three decades.

May 2014

  • Marty Brown was appointed Marketing Manager of Oregon State University Press, bringing strong connections from her publishing experience in the Pacific Northwest at Timber Press and Letterary Press.
  • Mary Dougherty will serve as the next Director of the University of Massachusetts Press. Douugherty has worked in college textbook publishing for the past fifteen years, most recently as Publisher for History at Bedford/St. Martin's.
  • Mary Rose Muccie will be the new Executive Director of Temple University Press and the Library Officer for Scholarly Communication. Muccie was previously Director of the JSTOR Current Journals Program.
  • Charles Watkinson has been appointed Associate University Librarian for Publishing and Director of the University of Michigan Press, effective July 1. Watkinson is currently Director of Purdue University Press and Head of Purdue Libraries' Scholarly Publishing Services.
  • Katherine Boller has been promoted to Editor at Yale University Press. She will continue to acquire a wide variety of art books, but her primary focus will be to grow and shape Yale's architecture and architectural history list.

April 2014

  • Erika Stevens has joined the University Press of Florida as Senior Editor. Stevens was previously an acquisitions editor at the University of Georgia Press.
  • Stephanye Hunter has also joined the University Press of Florida as Acquisitions Assistant. Hunter recently completed her MA in Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Texas, Austin and has interned at both the University of North Carolina Press and the University of Virginia Press.

March 2014

  • Jenna Phillips will rejoin Vanderbilt University Press as Marketing Associate. Previous to her current role with Vanderbilt Alumni Relations, Phillips was Editorial Assistant at the press.
  • Puja Telikicherla Boyd will be joining the University of Washington Press in early April 2014 as Intellectual Property Manager. Puja recently held this position at Georgetown University Press.
  • Kelly Gray will be returning to the University of Tennessee Press as a Designer at the end of March 2014. Gray was most recently a designer for the University of Illinois Press.

February 2014

  • Ann-Christine Racette will join Fordham University Press as Design and Production Manager at the end of March. Racette was most recently Digital and Print Production Manager at Northwestern University Press.
  • Frances Pinter has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Manchester University Press. Pinter has served as Interim CEO since August 2013.
  • Mike Bieker has been named Director of the University of Arkansas Press. Bieker was previously Assistant Director and Business Manager at the press.

December 2013

  • Jill McConkey has joined University of Manitoba Press as Acquisitions Editor. Previously, McConkey spent more than 10 years in the editorial department at University of Toronto Press.
  • Tom Helleberg will be joining the University of Washington Press in March as Chief Financial Officer. Helleberg was most recently Business Manager at NYU Press.
  • Hannah New is joining the University of Utah Press as Marketing Manager. New comes to Utah from Southern Illinois University Press, where she worked in acquistions editorial before making the switch to marketing.
  • Jay Dew is joining Texas A&M University Press as Senior Editor, acquiring in history and political science. Dew was most recently Acquisitions Editor at the University of Oklahoma Press.

November 2013

  • Sylvia Mendoza is joining the University of Arizona Press as Editorial and Production Manager. Mendoza's most recent positions have been with Plural Publishing and School Specialty, but she has also worked at University of Chicago Press.
  • Amanda Piell also joined the University of Arizona Press as Production Editor. Piell was most recently Production Editor at the University of New Mexico Press.
  • Zoya Lozoya recently joined the University of New Mexico Press as Marketing Associate. Lozoya previously served as a marketing intern for Stanford University Press.
  • Lauren Consuelo Tussing also recently joined the University of New Mexico Press as Publicist. Lauren previously worked as Marketing Coordinator at Louisiana State University Press.
  • Aaron Javsicas has joined Temple University Press as Senior Editor, acquiring titles in political science, criminology, and urban studies. Most recently, Javsicas was an editor at W.W. Norton, acquiring textbooks in political science and psychology.

October 2013

  • Vanessa Rusch is joining the University of Alabama Press as Managing Editor. Rusch was most recently a senior communications specialist on campus at Alabama.
  • Wendi Schnaufer recently joined the University of Alabama Press as Senior Acquisitions Editor for archaeology and anthropology. Schnaufer previously worked with Alta Mira / Rowman and Littlefield.
  • Blanche Sarratt has also recently joined the University of Alabama Press, as Assistant to the Director.
  • Angela Burton returned to the University of Illinois Press to serve as Rights & Permissions and Awards Manager from Indiana University Press, where she was the Managing Editor.
  • Abby Collier has also joined the University of Pittsburgh Press as Acquisitions Editor for the history and philosophy of science. Collier was previously an Assistant Editor with the University of Chicago Press.
  • Sandy Crooms will join the University of Pittsburgh Press as Editorial Director on October 28. Crooms has a wealth of experience in both marketing and acquisitions at university presses, including Nevada, Colorado, and most recently as Senior Editor at Ohio State.

September 2013

  • David Rosenbaum has been named director of the University of Missouri Press, beginning November 1. Rosenbaum was previously Director of Product Development and Project Management for the American Heart Association.
  • Charles Myers began his tenure as Director of the University Press of Kansas on September 23.
  • Valentina Kalk has been named Director of Brookings Institution Press. Kalk was previously chief of United Nations Publications.

August 2013

  • Kevin Cunningham joined the University of Illinois Press as Catalog and Copywriter Coordinator. Kevin previously worked for the University of Chicago Press as a Direct Mail Copywriter.
  • Kyle Kuhn has been hired by Georgetown University Press as Digital Editor for Languages. Kuhn was most recently Senior Curriculum Designer for Rosetta Stone.
  • Milica Cosic is also joining Georgetown University Press, as Publishing Assistant and Permissions Coordinator. Cosic joins the press from the Mind Fitness Training Institute, a nonprofit run by Georgetown University Professor Elizabeth Stanley.
  • Kristi Henson is joining the University of Missouri Press as Marketing Manager. Henson was most recently Marketing Director for Nonfiction Trade at Thomas Nelson Publishers.

July 2013

  • Lisa Tremaine joined University of New Mexico Press as Art Director and Senior Book Designer. Tremaine has served as a book designer for numerous publishers, including the University of Texas Press and Penn State Press.
  • Mark Saunders has been named Director of the University of Virginia Press, after serving as Interim Director and Editor-in-Chief since Penelope Kaiserlian's retirement in July 2012. Saunders has been at the press since 1995, most recently as Assistant Director.
  • Paul Courant, Dean of Libraries at the University of Michigan, will be assuming responsibility for Michigan Publishing, into which the University of Michigan Press has now been fully integrated.

  • Robert Sloan has been appointed Interim Editor-in-Chief of Indiana University Press. Sloan has served as Editorial Director of the press for 10 years and has been an editor with the press since 1986.
  • Gillian Berchowitz will become Director of Ohio University Press as of July 1. Berchowitz has been with the press for 25 years, most recently in the capacity of Editorial Director.
  • Rick Huard has been promoted at Ohio University Press to Acquisitions Editor as of July 1. Huard was formerly a Project Editor at the press.
  • Linda Manning will join Northern Illinois University Press as its new Director on July 16. Manning spent the past two years as Marketing and Sales Manager at The University of Utah Press, and previously managed marketing at NIU Press.
  • Eric L. Miller has also joined Northern Illinois University Press as Marketing and Sales Coordinator. Miller is a principle and co-founder of Miller Trade Book Marketing.
  • Sian Hunter has been promoted to Assistant Editor-in-Chief at the University Press of Florida. In 2011, Hunter joined UPF as an editor-at-large and was brought on full-time as a Senior Acquisitions Editor in September 2012.
  • Michael Kehoe has joined the University Press of Kansas as Marketing and Sales Director. His marketing and sales experience includes Harper San Francisco, the University Press of New England, and, most recently, the University of Michigan Press.
  • Natasha Varner will join the University of Washington Press as Publicity Manager on June 19. Varner previously coordinated the Mellon-funded First Peoples: New Directions in Indigenous Studies publishing collaboration between University of Arizona Press, University of Minnesota Press, University of North Carolina Press, and Oregon State University Press.

  • As of February 3, 2017, Judy Metro has retired as the Editor in Chief of the National Gallery of Art
  • Kathleen Keane will be retiring as Director of Johns Hopkins University Press on April 14; she joined the Press in 2002
  • The Director of Harvard University Press, William Sisler, has announced his retirement as of the end of the current academic year. Sisler has served as Director of the Press for 27 years
  • Peter J. Dougherty, Director of Princeton University Press, will be retiring on December 31, 2017, after twenty-five years at the press
  • Joe Brinley has retired from the Wilson Center
  • After 24 years, Anita Samen is retiring from the University of Chicago Press, having spent 18 as Managing Editor
  • Diane Cotts, Assistant Director at the University of Oklahoma Press, retired August 31, 2016
  • Andrew Tallon, Director of Marquette University Press, has announced his plans to retire in August 2017.
  • Kathi Dailey Morgan is retiring after 34 years with the University of Georgia Press
  • Sara Henderson White has retired from the University Press of Kansas on June 1; she is succeeded by Andrea Laws, new Assistant to the Director
  • John Langston has retired as Art Director of the University Press of Mississippi, after 32 years. He plans to travel the world, read what he wants, and search for the perfect mimosa.
  • John Tryneski is retiring from the Acquisitions department at the University of Chicago Press after four decades
  • Maureen Mills has retired from Georgetown University Press after dedicating herself to ‘UPdom’ for the past 11+ years. Director Richard Brown says, “One aspect of Maureen's tenure that has made a deep impression on me is her unwavering commitment to the good of the press, as well as her good cheer.”
  • Lynda Schuh, Sales and Digital Content Manager at the University of Illinois Press, retired in April 2016 after fifteen years of dedicated service in various roles.
  • Michael Duckworth stepped down as Director of the University of Hawai’i Press in March 2016.
  • Anne Marie Corrigan, Vice President of Journals at the University of Toronto Press, has retired in February 2016 after 28 years at the press.
  • Brian Henderson has retired as Director from Wilfrid Laurier University Press as of January 2016.
  • Betsy Litz, Production Manager of Princeton Unviersty Press, retired from the press in January 2016.
  • Heidi Perov, Assistant Director of the University of North Carolina Press, retired at the end of December 2015.
  • Marlie Wasserman, Director of Rutgers University Press, will be retiring as of Summer 2016
  • Linda E. Speth, General Manager of the University of the West Indies Press, retired on July 31, 2016 after over 35 years in scholarly publishing
  • Paul Banks retired from his position as Production Manager at MLA in summer 2014.
  • Carrie Mullen retired from her position as Director of the University of West Virginia Press in summer 2014.
  • Kathi Dailey Morgan, Assistant Director for Design and Production at the University of Georgia Press, retired at the end of March 2014 after 31 years at the press.
  • Sue Havlish, Sales & Marketing Manager at Vanderbilt University Press, retired at the end of March 2014.
  • Steve Maikowski retired from his position as Director of New York University Press at the end of May 2014. Maikowski led the press for 13 years, capping a 37-year career in academic publishing.
  • Bruce Wilcox retired from the University of Massachusetts Press in June 2014. Wilcox was with the press for 31 years—only part of his 43-year career in university press publishing.
  • John G. Ackerman retired from his position as Director of Cornell University Press on January 3, 2014. Ackerman was with the press for 33 years, and served as its Director since 1988.
  • Valerie Millholland retired on January 10, 2014 from her position as Senior Editor after 30 years with Duke University Press. As an end note to her career, Millholland was awarded the 2013 Distinguished Service Award from the Conference on Latin American History.
  • Robert Mandel retired from his position as Director at Texas Tech University Press at the end of 2013, after 34 years in university press publishing, including terms at SUNY, Indiana, Wayne State, Syracuse, Wisconsin, and Alaska.
  • Mary Lenn Dixon retired at the end of 2013 from her position as Editor in Chief at Texas A&M University Press, where she was a staff member since 1979.
  • Loomis Mayer retired from Fordham University Press at the close of 2013, after 24 years as Production Manager.
  • Patricia Hollahan, Director of Medieval Institute Publications, retired at the end of 2013.
  • Ann Walston, Production Designer at the University of Pittsburgh Press, retired on October 1, 2013.
  • Deborah Weiner will retire at the end of March 2014 from her role as Editorial and Production Manager at Georgetown University Press, where she has been for more than 15 years.
  • Laura Young Bost retired from her position as Rights and Permissions Manager at University of Texas Press on September 10, 2013. Bost was an active member of the AAUP Copyright Committee for many years.
  • James Jordan retired as Director of Columbia University Press as of September 1, 2013. Jordan led the press since 2004, and previously directed Johns Hopkins University Press.
  • Janet Rabinowitch retired at the end of June 2013 after a decade as Director of Indiana University Press. Rabinowitch was an acquiring editor at the press for 38 years.
  • Mary Read retired as Director of Washington State University Press in May 2013.
