"Testimony of War"
In commemoration of the 60th anniversary of D-Day, Kent State hosts a
panel featuring novelist and WWII veteran Tony Hillerman, author of Kilroy
Was There: A GIs War in Photographs; Richard Bassett, author
of And the Wind Blew Cold: The Story of an American POW in North Korea;
and Anton Bilek, author of No Uncle Sam: The Forgotten of Bataan.
The discussion will be moderated by historian and University Press director
emeritus John Hubbell. The authors will discuss their books and reflect
upon their experiences of war and captivity. The event is free and open
to the public; no reservations are required. Books will be available for
sale. A book signing and reception will follow the discussion.

and Interim Dean Rudolph Almasy. The WVU Press staff will also be available
for questions as people view the new offices.

A special 30-minute television program featuring an interview with Phil Pochoda, the director of the University of Michigan Press, and Jim Schaefer, the host and executive producer of Riprap: The Academic Book Television Program. The program will initially be broadcast locally six times on the Community Television Network on Dec. 16 (10:00 p.m.), Dec. 18 (5:00 p.m.), Dec. 19 (11:30 p.m.), Dec. 20 (11:30 a.m.), Dec. 28 (!2 Noon), and Dec. 29 (12:30 p.m.). Then it will be broadcast additional times during January, when it will also become available on Jan. 15 on Riprap's web site (riprap.org). |
