Digital Publishing and Rights Manager

Description

Georgetown University Press seeks an experienced Digital Publishing and Rights Manager (DPRM) to oversee all operational, strategic, and financial aspects of its digital publishing and rights department with a staff of two. Reporting to the Director of Georgetown University Press, the DPRM has duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee overseeing requests for permission to use material from the press’s intellectual property.
  • Oversee the application for copyright and applying for trademark registrations.
  • Negotiate rights for copublications and translations.
  • Negotiate subsidiary rights with third parties.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts and post content with library-focused content aggregators.
  • Handle licensing agreements and digital rights management.
  • Oversee the contracts administration process.
  • Create and implement policies for permissions.
  • Represent the press at international book fairs
  • Oversee the preparation and distribution of print and ebook metadata.
  • Consult on the preparation of digital files to all partners and content aggregators.

 

Requirements

  • BA or advanced degree.
  • At least three experience in scholarly or trade publishing, print and digital rights management, and permissions management.
  • Exceptional communications skills and strong ability to interact with foreign publishers, authors, attorneys, and vendors, as well as the editorial, marketing and sales, and other departments of the press.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, digital publishing, databases, and web-based applications required.
